The Union Sportive de Vermelles football club was created on November 12, 1932.

It is located at the foot of the slag heaps of the former Nord Pas de Calais mining basin between Lens and Béthune.

The different teams play in the different categories of the Hauts de France and District Artois football league.

In terms of education, US Vermelles is a fervent promoter of the Federal Educational Program (PEF) among its young people.
